Description

The Agriculture, Water and Environmental Technologies (AWET) has been leading the advancement of career pathways in an effort to maintain the competitiveness in the Bay Region. A workshop to better align the projected future training needs of essential employees in environment-related functions with the curriculum, training, and certification programs of Bay Area Colleges.

You are cordially invited to Bridging the GAP between Industry and Education: 21st Century Environmental Careers, a collaborative workshop to be held on March 2, 2018 and hosted by LinkedIn.

It is projected that the water and wastewater industry will experience a severe loss of qualified professionals over the next five years due to retirement. In this time, the underemployment rate is projected to be 12.6% for college graduates and 33.7% for high school graduates, pointing to a huge opportunity for re-alignment and re-training.

Strengthened connections between employers and educators will address the critical need for both trained employees as well as the need for clear career pathways into high-growth environmental industries. Our job is to match the needs of employers with the means of potential employees and this workshop is envisioned to be the first of many opportunities for us to engage all key stakeholders in this vital dialog.
